Membership Committee Updates
Vic Fernandez ‘59 – look into seeing if he can speak about a new national cemetery in Colorado
Army/Navy: If the website were live; folks could link to it and RSVP while also seeing other RSVPs. Central party is at the Blake Street Tavern. Navy, Army, & Air Force folks have RSVP’d. House parties are also going on . . . it was talked about wanting to get back to AOG that the Denver Metro Area hosted 3+ parties.
New website: Mark Frank & Ed Hlopak, presented updates on the West Point Society of Denver website: www.westpointdenver.org. Looking to provide networking for graduates in the area and have the website itself have more functionability provided to the graduates. Old documents can be transferred from old website. Word Press is being used as the new interface which will include an event manager, blog(s) update(s) and information past and future. Cost savings for URL, website, host server and time costs were discussed. It was approved to reimburse Mark Frank ’00, up to $300 in current costs already incurred.
Candidate interviews/nominations: Carroll not in attendance. Many attendees at today’s meeting sat on the congressional selection boards. More women are needed. It was noted that not as many candidates are looking to West Point as the academy of choice. Let Robbie Robinson know who has served on a board.
Parents Club: Bob Walcott – not sure how the Army/Air Force game went. December 28th at the Broadmoor is the All Academy Ball.
Quarterly Luncheon: Bob Walcott – was a big success. 30 people were in attendance. The next speaker will possibly be Sandhurst graduates that can speak about the British military experience. Early February; Wednesday night – it’s suggested that the University Club be the venue. More to come on exact date/time/cost.
The date for the 2014 Founder’s Day is March 8th. The speaker will be GEN Rapp. Sam Thiessen is working on the new board nominations.
Next Meeting: Yearly Planning Meeting January 28, 2014 @ Piccalo’s.
