Board of Directors Meeting
MINUTES OF MEETING – Thursday, December 5, 2024

There were 8 board members in attendance: Steve
Best, Tim Griesmer, Chad Dalton, Katie Wilson, Mike Euperio, Joel Martin, Alec
Lee, Lou Schroeder (proxy given to Steve)
·
A quorum was established.
Secretary’s Report
·
Minutes of the July 17, 2024 Board Meeting
were approved 8-0.
Distinguished Society
·
The Distinguished Society Award application is
due in May 2025. Tim Griesmer will submit the application for the Society.
Treasurer’s Report
·
Current funds are $22,452.09.
·
The Society is down approximately $5,000 for
the calendar year, mostly due to the expense associated with Founder’s Day.
Membership Report
·
There are 135 total active members.
·
Approximately 106 memberships have expired.
·
A QR code will be established for membership
renewal and will be distributed at watch parties and sent out by email to
encourage people to renew their memberships.
Communications Update
·
Katie Wilson was elected as the Communications
Officer by a vote of 8-0.
·
Katie has created an Instagram account for the
Society.
Admissions Update
·
There
are currently 422 active applications, with 4 early offers outstanding. This is
on track to send the normal number of new cadets to the academies.
·
Alec
Lee will be the vice President of the Parents Club as well as the co-chair of
the service academy ball.
New Business
·
A successful
happy hour was held on August 8, 2024 at the Rio Grande Restaurant in Boulder,
coordinated by Mike Baskin ’02.
·
Steve
attended the WPAOG Leader’s Conference and received the Distinguished Society Award.
·
Steve
also attended the USAFA Affirmation ceremony hosted by the Pike’s Peak Society
on August 18, 2024. He spoke and conducted the swearing in.
·
The
Service Academy Golf Tournament was sold out this year. The goal for next year
is to raise $5,000 for charity. The event will be run by Navy in 2025. The
Merchant Marine also attended this year, making it an “all academy” tournament.
·
The
Founder’s Day dinner will be held on March 8, 2025. The first planning meeting was held on
September 9, 2024 and planning is moving forward. There will likely be a price
increase this year. The Society is looking at planning a major event for the
Society’s 100th anniversary in 2027.
·
The
Society has held several watch parties this year, including September 26, 2024
against Temple, November 23, 2024 against Notre Dame, and December 6, 2024
against Tulane, organized in conjunction with their respective alumni clubs.
·
Members
of the Society participated in service academy candidate panels for several
members of Congress.
·
WPLEC
planning is underway for April 4, 2025. Planners are evaluating potential
locations.
Army-Navy Watch Party
·
The Army-Navy watch party will be held at Stoney’s
Bar and Grill on December 14, 2024 with kickoff at 1:00pm.
The annual planning meeting will be held Tuesday, January
21, 2025 at a location TBD.
The meeting adjourned at 7:30 PM.
