Board of Directors Meeting

MINUTES OF MEETING – Wednesday, January 24, 2024

Meeting conducted remotely via Zoom

 

Call to order – By President Steve Best at 7:00 PM

Attendees

·        There were 12 board members in attendance.

·        A quorum was established.

Secretary’s Report

·        Minutes of the December 6, 2023 Board Meeting were approved 12-0.

Treasurer’s Report

·        Mike Euperio reported that he conducted a full financial review of Society records

·        The total account balances for the Society at the end of 2023 were approximately $28, 607

·        In 2023, the Society netted approximately $16,000 from the Army-Air Force tailgate and lost approximately $8,000 between Founder’s Day and WPLEC. Founder’s Day for 2024 is again projected to be a significant loss.

·        Mike Euperio presented the draft budget for 2024, which projects an approximately $10,000 deficit.

Membership Report

·        There are 129 active members with 82 paid lifetime members.

·        There are 275 lapsed or expired memberships.

·        Derik Timmerman has accepted the role of membership director.

Army-Navy Watch Party AAR

·        Tim Griesmer updated the board on the Army-Navy Watch party AAR.

·        The event was well attended and a donation was made to Toys for Tots.

Founder’s Day

·        Andy Benson updated the board on Founder’s Day planning.

·        The final walk-through has been scheduled.

·        Steve Best will take the lead on hosting the Dean.

·        Jace Johnson will take the lead on hosting the cadet candidate meeting.

·        The program will remain similar to past years.

WPLEC

·        WPLEC is scheduled for Friday, April 8, 2024.

·        There is a meeting scheduled with the Daniels Fund for financial support. The budget is approximately $6,000.

·        The Pikes Peak Society has agreed to split the cost with WPSD.

·        GEN(R) Casey is confirmed as a guest speaker.

·        Registrations are ongoing with a cap of 150 students.

·        15 moderators are confirmed.

Admissions

·        Fewer files are open this year than the 8 year average.

·        Jace Johnson expects fewer than 20 admissions from the Society area this year.

The next meeting will be held at a date and time TBD.

The meeting adjourned at 8:37 PM.
