Board of Directors Meeting
MINUTES OF MEETING – Wednesday, December 6, 2023

Call to order – By President Steve Best at 11:35 AM

Tim Griesmer, Lou Schroeder, Chad Dalton, Bob Walcott, Andy Benson, Sam
Thiessen, Shannon Sharrock, Jace Johnson, Dave Jackson (Emeritus).

A quorum was established.
Secretary’s Report
·
Minutes of the October 4, 2023 Board Meeting
were approved 9-0.
Treasurer’s and Report
·
The total account balances for the Society are
approximately $28,500
·
The Army-Air Force tailgate netted $16,012.
·
Due to the absence of the Treasurer and
several unanswered questions from board members, the board chose not to vote on
approving the treasurer’s report.
Army-Air Force Tailgate AAR
·
The board members agreed that the tailgate was a
success, being well organized, having plenty of food, good sponsorship support,
and was very well attended.
·
The tailgate had a net profit of $16,012.
·
The registration via Sallyport worked very well.
·
The ID check/wrist band process was seen as an
area for improvement. In the future it is suggested that more volunteers be
recruited to check IDs.
·
Steve plans to reach out to the Pike’s Peak
chapter to see if they are interested in partnering on future tailgates.
Army-Navy Planning
·
At the time of the board meeting there were 236
RSVPs for the Army-Navy watch party.
·
Army and Navy door prizes were ordered.
·
Once again the event will raise funds for Toys
for Tots.
·
The board will need to be prepared to reimburse
Tim Tacl (USNA) for door prizes.
Academy Cup
·
The golf tournament will be September 6, 2024.
Navy will be the lead planners for the event.
Founder’s Day
·
The primary date for Founder’s Day is March 9,
2024. The alternate date is February 24, 2024.
·
Andy will be placing an order soon for “day of”
necessities.
·
The board still needs to work on recruiting
sponsors for this event.
WPLEC
·
Jace briefed the board that he is working on a
venue and date prior to January.
·
If the board wants to grow the event there will
be a need to move it to a new venue. Jace is looking at venues in the south
metro area.
Admissions
·
Colorado has about the same number of open files
as this time last year.
·
Colorado sent 27 new cadets last year and is
projecting 20-25 offers this year.
New Business
·
Bob told the board about a lecture by Betsy
Blakeslee, spouse a Class of 1990 graduate, on the historic fortifications at
West Point. He suggested she would be a good choice for a quarterly dinner
speaker.
The next meeting, the annual planning meeting, will be held
on January 24, 2024 at 7:00pm at a location TBD.
The meeting adjourned at 1:00pm.
